Official iPod Touch 1.1.3 Jailbreak Tutorial

Posted by iPod Touch | Posted in | Posted on Sunday, January 27, 2008

The official iPod Touch 1.1.3 jailbreak has been released. View http://www.zdziarski.com/ for confirmation on this.

To download the files required for this jailbreak click the below link:
Download Jailbreak 1.1.3

This is a .tar.gz file, so you'll need a program like WinAce(http://www.winace.com) to extract the files.

Note: YOU MUST BE RUNNING JAILBREAKED FIRMWARE 1.1.2 with the BSD SUBSYSTEM to RUN THIS JAILBREAK! If you don't have it then upgrade to it. My jailbreak 1.1.2 guide is located here. The BSD Subsystem can be install through Installer. Go to Installer >> System >> and BSD Subsystem.

Why should you use this jailbreak instead of Nate's jailbreak? Okay, this one is official, but what other reason is there? This jailbreak method doesn't make the SDK code malfunction.

On to the jailbreak tutorial now.

1. This jailbreak involves downloading the firmware off of Apple's website. Be sure you have the cable connected to your iPod Touch or iPhone. If you have an iPhone be sure to turn the auto-lock option off!

2.Login to putty and enter in the below text.
# scp -r ./* root@iphone:/

2. Run the install.sh script by typing the below text:
# sh install.sh

3. Now the device will perform an upgrade and reboot into 1.1.3

If something DOES go wrong, downgrade back to 1.1.2 and try again.

If you get something like illegal hardware instruction, just try rebooting
and it should be updated to 1.1.3.

If you don't get service, try a forced-power-down then power back on.

When you mentioned "Log in to PuTTY", what is the hostname to use, and connection type, or do I just go straight into the Connection - > SSH and enter the commands you mentioned?

I get a connection lost error via WinSCP when issuing the "scp -r ./* root@iphone:/" command. Is there something wrong in what I'm doing? :-)

.. even when using Term-VT100 on my iPod Touch... I also get the same error...

Awaiting your advise..

Hello Bobby, try this:

Download the file at
http://www.mediafire.com/?9wnyznm1xbq.

Run the file named jailbreak.bat. The rest should be automated! Let me know how it goes. :)

it does!! thanks!!!
